June 14–20, 2027, the Monterey Peninsula stops being a place people vacation and becomes a place people camp out for. The 127th U.S. Open — Pebble Beach’s seventh — will fill every room from Pacific Grove to Carmel Valley months before the first tee shot. If you’re planning to be anywhere near the tournament that week, the lodging conversation isn’t “where do I want to stay.” It’s “where can I still get a room, and how far am I willing to drive.”
Here’s the honest version of that math, broken down by drive time to both Pebble Beach and to Pajaro Valley Golf Club — because if golf is part of your trip and not just spectating, where you sleep should work for both. Find links to all lodging options HERE.
Where to stay, 4 Monterey county neighborhoods
Watsonville & Pajaro Dunes — 8 minutes to Pajaro Valley, 40 minutes to Pebble. The closest lodging to the golf course, and still a manageable diagonal drive to the tournament grounds up Highway 1. This is the play if you want your mornings free for golf and don’t mind the extra twenty minutes on tournament days.
Moss Landing & Castroville — 15 minutes to Pajaro Valley, 30 minutes to Pebble. The middle option, geographically and practically. Close enough to the course to play early and still make afternoon coverage, close enough to the Peninsula that tournament traffic won’t eat your whole day.
Aptos & Rio del Mar — 18 minutes to Pajaro Valley, 50 minutes to Pebble. Worth considering if the closer options are sold out first — which, this far out, they will be.
Monterey & Seaside — 30 minutes to Pajaro Valley, 15 minutes to Pebble. Closest to the Open itself, which also means these rooms go first and cost the most during Championship week. If you land something here, Pajaro Valley is still only half an hour away for a round on the days you’re not in the gallery.

A few things worth knowing before you book 2027 US Open
- Confirm current road closure and shuttle plans for Championship week once the USGA publishes its transportation guide.
- Highway 1 is the single road connecting most of these towns to the Peninsula; treat “38 minutes” as an off-peak estimate and build in buffer time during tournament hours.
- Book lodging before you book golf. Rooms within an hour of Pebble Beach will move first; a $99 tee time at Pajaro Valley will still be there.
Rates on the golf side are already locked: $99 per player, per round, every day of Open week, cart or walking included. See the full offer and book a tee time →
